at PlasmaInstaller.com we have dealt with practically every installation application out there. When you're considering a plasma installation company to install your plasma, LCD or flat panel TV keep in mind that experience is everything. We have installed thousands of TVs Nation Wide and we have cumulated countless years of experience. One of the installations that most customers have questions about is a fireplace installation. Plasma TV Installation is not something most consumers should take on by themselves especially if the TV is being installed over a fireplace. The first question we will ask when you call to have your TV installed over your fireplace is what type of fireplace is it? There are generally two kinds of fireplaces, gas and traditional.

A gas fireplace will be the cleanest installation; your TV installation will look great when we’re done because a gas fireplace is usually completely hollow inside. The patching work required after the installation is almost nonexistent. Usually our installer will cut out a small hole at the base of the fireplace and another one behind where the TV will be installed and generally they can fish the wires effortlessly to the top of your mantel. Traditional fireplaces are found in older homes and are usually wood-burning. In this setting there is a chimney attached to the fireplace and in order to support the weight of the chimney there are usually 4-6 beams on each side of the mantel, so in order to get the component wires from the base of the wall where your components will be, we have to cut through the beams supporting your chimney. This process is very invasive and very messy. You will most likely need a handyman to come out to patch, texture and paint the wall after your LCD installation. We have done a lot of plasma installations over traditional fireplaces and we always try to inform the customer of what is involved with this installation. We can install over a traditional fireplace however we like our customers to know what is involved before hand so there are no surprises after your TV Installation.

Another instance we’ve ran into with regards to fireplace flat panel installations is brick, rock or tile fireplaces. When there is a brick fireplace we can still install your TV, however we will not be able to hide the wires without the assistance of track molding or removing bricks for an additional fee. When installing your TV over a fireplace that has a tile facade, usually there is drywall behind the tile and we can remove a piece of tile to access the drywall and go from there (usually tile fireplaces are also gas). Rock fireplaces are very tricky, we can apply similar techniques we use in brick fireplaces however rock fireplaces are usually never flush so your TV will never be flat against the wall, we usually try to avoid these installations however we can do this and make it look as best as possible. We hope this helps in advance with your fireplace LCD or Plasma TV Installation. Please feel free to call with any other questions. (866) 550-HDTV (4388)
